U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is looking forward to meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Munich Security Conference and once again emphasized the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. He said this in a comment to journalists before leaving for Munich, reports CNN .

"I think he will be there and there is a chance to see him. I believe it's on my schedule, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm sure we'll do it," Rubio said .

Rubio Calls Continued Bombing of Ukraine by Russia 'Horrific'.

"This is a war. That is why we want the war to end. People are suffering. This is the coldest time of the year. The suffering is incredible. That's the problem with wars. That's why wars are bad, and that's why we've been working so hard for over a year to try to end this war," he said .

Zelenskyy, in turn, said he would attend the meeting if possible, depending on the security situation in Ukraine.

  • on February 7, Zelenskyy said that the United States proposes to end Russia's war against Ukraine by early this summer. He suggested that the United States would put pressure on the parties according to this schedule. Then, the Americans will probably have another priority – Congress.
  • At the same time, US Ambassador to NATO Whitaker doubts that the US "announced anything like that".
