In Donetsk region, a mercenary from the Philippines, John Patrick, who fought as part of the Russian army against Ukraine, was killed. His body was found among the other liquidated occupants, reported in the Main Intelligence Directorate.

The military found out that the foreigner served in the 9th Assault Company of the 3rd Battalion, 283rd Regiment, 144th Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Combined Arms Army of Russia. He died during a "meat assault" near the village of Novoselivka, Kramatorsk district. The mercenary was carrying a weapon, ammunition and a piece of paper with the unit number, phone number and name of the commander. He did not speak Russian.

From the Filipino's electronic devices, intelligence officers learned that his basic training lasted a week, after which the foreigner was sent to the front line. He was wounded and bleeding in a forest belt – the Russians did not organize evacuation, the DIU noted.

Intelligence reports that Russia is scaling up the practice of recruiting foreign citizens and labor migrants into its army through pressure or deception. Foreigners are offered to serve in the rear or threatened with problems with the police. The DIU warned foreigners against traveling to Russia or working on its territory.

"A trip to Russia is a real chance to end up in an assault company without training and a chance to survive," the military intelligence noted.
