Ukraine’s security service (SBU) on Wednesday launched an investigation into the brutal execution of a Ukrainian serviceman by the Russian military filmed on camera.

The video, which LIGA.net has seen but will not publish for ethical reasons, shows Russian "brutally torture a Ukrainian prisoner and cut off his head," the SBU statement reads.

People in military uniforms with white ribbons – usually used for identification by the Russian military in Ukraine – are seen to be beheading a living person in a uniform with Ukrainian insignia.

The SBU investigation concerns an article of Ukraine’s criminal code regarding war crimes.

"We will find these inhumans. If necessary, we will run them to earth, getting them from underground or from the other world. But they will definitely be punished for what they have done," the head of Ukraine’s security service, Vasyl Malyuk, was quoted as saying.

Andrii Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said that "there will be an answer and responsibility for everything".
