SBU: Russians try to recruit Ukrainians to register their Starlink

Ukrainians have been warned of criminal liability for registering hostile Starlink satellite communication terminals. This is stated in the statement Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the special service, Russians are trying to recruit Ukrainians to register their terminals. The SBU is actively countering these attempts by Russia.

Currently, the occupiers are facing blocking of Starlink along the entire front line. But they are trying to restore this communication channel by any means necessary. In particular, they offer Ukrainians to register terminals in administrative service centers for money.

The Russians act both directly by posting relevant ads and resort to manipulation. The invaders pose as Ukrainian military personnel who allegedly "purchased Starlink at their own expense and are currently unable to register it," so they are asking Ukrainian citizens for help.

The SBU urged citizens to be vigilant and not to fall for such provocations. Such cooperation is qualified as high treason, which is punishable by life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

At the end of January, in Ukraine introduced registration terminals – both for military and civilians. Unverified Starlink terminals will be disabled. This is done as part of countering the use of satellite communications by the Russians from the American company SpaceX.

Ivan Kyrychevskyi, a soldier of the "Raid" and an expert on weapons, commented for Defense Express text LIGA.net explained that for the Russians, Starlink terminals were a tool for cross-service command and control that allowed them to combine small infantry groups and attack UAVs into a single fist, and to support this almost in real time with guided bomb and artillery strikes.
