China has not confirmed the information that it is supplying Russia with machines used to manufacture missiles, including the Oreshnik. This was discussed at the briefing Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun commented on The Telegraph's investigation that Beijing supplies Russia with machine tools and equipment for the production of missiles, including the Oreshnik, which the aggressor state has twice used to strike Ukraine.

"China's position on the Ukrainian crisis [as Russia's war against Ukraine is called in China] is consistent and clear. We never stir up conflict, use the situation to our advantage, or accept blame-shifting," the foreign ministry spokesman said.

He was also asked to comment on the Russian shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the likelihood of providing aid to Kyiv.

"China has consistently called on all parties to adhere to three principles: preventing the spread of hostilities in Ukraine, preventing the escalation of the conflict, and refraining from provoking further conflicts, so as to jointly create conditions for a political solution to the crisis," Guo said.

He added that China will continue to play a "constructive role in mitigating the humanitarian situation in Ukraine in its own way."

  • On January 28, The Telegraph wrote that China supplies Russia with machines for the creation of hypersonic missiles capable of carrying a nuclear charge. The article referred to the supply of equipment for the plant that manufactures Iskander, Oreshnik and other missiles.
  • Before that, Zelenskyy claimed China is not interested in Ukraine's victory and Russia's defeat in the war.
