Zelensky responds to petition to decriminalize porn in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to petition on decriminalizing the production of erotic content. According to him, the issues raised fall within the competence of the Verkhovna Rada.
Zelenskyy noted that the only legislative body in Ukraine that adopts laws is the Verkhovna Rada. It is currently considering a bill to amend the Criminal Code on offenses against public order and morality.
This draft law proposes to establish criminal liability exclusively for the importation of pornographic content (videos, photos, programs, works and other items) into Ukraine for sale to minors.
"At the same time, I would like to inform you that the proposals expressed in the electronic petition have been sent to the Verkhovna Rada for processing during the consideration of the relevant draft law in accordance with the established procedure," the response reads.
Possible penalties: a fine of UAH 17,000 to UAH 85,000, restriction of liberty for up to five years and imprisonment for up to seven years in case of recidivism or group conspiracy.
