Iran has provided Russia with technical assistance in the manufacture of Shaheds, but the supply of the drones has now been suspended. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate in response to a request LIGA.net.

The intelligence community knows that Iran helped Russia organize the mass production of various elements of Shahed-136 drones. In particular, it involved relevant technical specialists.

However, after the launch of the Geranium-2 attack drone production plant in the city of Elabuga, Tatarstan, the supply of Iranian drones was halted.

At present, Tehran continues to supply Russia with certain avionics elements and components for drones.

Reference. This plant in Yelabuga was built in the spring of 2023 on the territory of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. According to a July investigation by the Georgian YouTube channel RZVRT, the plant has already started producing Shaheds. In June 2025, DW found out that African women are involved in the production of drones in the Russian Federation .
  • In April, the Defense Forces hit a factory in Yelabuga, more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine's state border, with drones. It produced about 300 UAVs a day.
  • The attacks were repeated on June 10 and on June 15. The General Staff noted that during the last attack, the means of destruction reached the target area, but the results are being clarified.
  • In a commentary to LIGA.net military observer Yigal Levin said that against the backdrop of Israel's war with Iran supplies to Russia may decrease. This refers to both missiles and drones with spare parts.
