Oleksandr Pytaychuk, a rescuer of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, was killed in Kyiv during emergency rescue operations at a power facility. This was reported by the Civil service on emergency situations and prime minister Yulia Sviridenko.

The tragedy occurred during the elimination of the consequences of an attack on the energy infrastructure january 23. During the work, the rescuer fell from a height of about 20 meters and died from his injuries, the head of government said.

According to the State Emergency Service, the deceased was a rescuer and climber of the Main Mobile Rescue Center for Rapid Response. Pytaychuk was 31 years old. He worked in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions, often under the threat of repeated attacks, to restore electricity and heat to the city.

The service emphasized that rescuers continue to perform tasks even where the danger has not yet passed.

"This is a painful reminder of the price of service and the responsibility that rescuers bear every day," the service added.
