The Brazilian government informed about the granting of an agréement to the appointed ambassador of Ukraine in Brazil.
"The Government of Brazil is pleased to announce that it has granted Mr. Andrij Melnyk the status of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Brazil," the message reads.
REFERENCE. agréement (from the French agrément "agreement") is a preliminary agreement of the government of the host state to accept a certain person as the head of a diplomatic mission of another state.
LIGA.net asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment.
The Foreign Ministry replied that they comment on the appointment of ambassadors only after the relevant presidential decree is issued.
REFERENCE. Andrij Melnyk, before becoming the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry, was Ukraine's ambassador to Germany and became known for his tough, "non-diplomatic" position regarding the military aid that Kyiv wanted to receive from Berlin. The scandal with "liver sausage" was the most high-profile.
