During Poland's presidency of the Council of Europe, one of the priorities will be Ukraine's membership in the European Union, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda has said, according to news outlet RMF24.

Poland will preside over the Council of Europe in the first half of 2025.

Among the priorities, Duda named the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic ties and cooperation with the United States, as well as the membership of Ukraine and Moldova in the European Union.

"The prime minister and I know very well what it means to wait a long time, what it means to want to be part of the free West," said the Polish president.

Today, the historical demand of the moment is the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU, Duda emphasized.

On April 3, it was reported that the European Commission would recommend starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union in October.
