The first countermeasures to counter Russian drones from Starlink have been taken. The military wants to collect dat

On January 31, Ukraine began to observe the first countermeasures taken by Spase X to counter Russian drones with Starlink terminals. About reported deputy Minister of Defense and military Serhiy Beskrestnov (Flash).
The countermeasures caused disruptions in Starlink service among the Ukrainian military. According to the deputy minister, these decisions are temporary and emergency. They will be replaced by global and thoughtful ones, but it will take some time. Currently, SpaceX is involved in the process and assisting the Ministry of Defense.
"I cannot publicly voice everything that has already been done, is being done and will be done, but all these actions are aimed at one goal: Protecting the people of our country (both military and civilian) and our infrastructure from the threat of enemy UAVs," he emphasized.
Flesch also believes that it is high time to collect all the information on the country's users of SpaceX services in the Defense Forces. There have already been attempts to do so, he noted, but many military personnel who use volunteer or personal Starlink terminals were reluctant to provide information to the command for fear that they might be taken away or not issued a new one.
The Ministry of Defense plans to find a way to collect the necessary data in a way that the military does not fear the consequences.
"I once again apologize to those temporarily affected by the measures taken, but these are very important and necessary actions for the country's security," Flesch emphasized.
At the same time, Russian military officials began to complain that the Russian army could no longer attack Ukraine with drones equipped with Starlink, as it shuts down at 90 km/h.
- Russians, probably, first used starlink satellite Internet on "shaheds" by attacking helicopters near Kropyvnytskyi on January 24, 2026.
- on January 26, it became known that a Russian drone equipped with Starlink, flew to Dnipro.
- on January 29, it was reported that Ukraine and SpaceX solve the problem the use of Starlink on Russian drones – the Ministry of Defense contacted the company a few hours after the first enemy UAV was spotted.
