Actress Catherine O'Hara, known for her role as Kevin's mother in Home Alone, dies

Hollywood actress Catherine O'Hara, known for her role in the movie Home Alone, has died at the age of 72. This was reported by the publication Variety with reference to the celebrity's manager.

O'Hara died on Friday, January 30, at her home in Los Angeles after a short illness.

The media writes that O'Hara's Hollywood career spanned five decades, starting with the Canadian sketch comedy series Second City TV, for which she won her first Emmy Award.

O'Gara went on to star in such films as After Hours, Beatlejuice, and the first two parts of the cult film Home Alone, in which she played the mother of Macaulay Culkin's character Kevin.

The star is also remembered by viewers for her work in pseudo-documentary comedies directed by Christopher Guest and for her voice acting in animated films.

Among O'Hara's recent roles was the sequel to Beatlejuice (2024), in which she reprised her role as Delia Dietz.

O'Hara was born on March 4, 1954 in Toronto, Canada, into a large Irish Catholic family. She has been married to director Beau Welch since April 25, 1992. The couple has two sons: Matthew (1994) and Luke (1997).
