The German defense company Rheinmetall plans to produce tanks, ammunition, and air defense systems in Ukraine in the future, CEO of the concern, Armin Papperger, has said, according to Bild.

According to him, Rheinmetall will try to conclude a corresponding agreement with Ukraine "in the coming weeks".

It is planned to create joint enterprises with Ukrainian companies for the production of self-propelled guns, air defense systems, and ammunition.

"In this way, we will give Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself in the medium and long term," Papperger stated.

On March 4, reports surfaced that there are plans to build a Rheinmetall plant in Ukraine.

On April 3, Rheinmetall announced the creation of a logistics hub in Romania near the border with Ukraine to repair and maintain tanks and self-propelled artillery.
