President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that it is time for the United States to strengthen sanctions against Russia after the new massive shelling, with which Moscow broke its promise to the American president, Donald Trump. This is stated in the post of the head of state in the social network X.

Zelenskyy reminded them that there is an important initiative in the US Congress that could provide more tools to put the right pressure on Russia.

"And now is the best time to pass the Russia Sanctions Act. Strong sanctions can help diplomatic efforts and together ensure the necessary result. Everyone in the world sees that Moscow does not hear or respond adequately to words and requests," the president added.

He emphasized that while the United States invests so much time and effort in diplomacy, Russia continues to invest only in its missiles and drones and continues to shell, despite requests from its American partners to refrain from attacks for a week.

"Last night was a record-breaking attack in terms of the number of ballistic missiles: 43 missiles of various types entering the target on a ballistic trajectory. There were also 28 cruise missiles and 450 attack drones. The Russians deliberately waited for the coldest days and struck when it was -20° Celsius or -4° Fahrenheit in many of our cities," the Head of State emphasized.

Zelensky emphasized that all Russian targets in Ukraine are exclusively energy facilities. In his opinion, this means that human lives and the diplomatic process are actually also a target for the Russians.

Zelenskyy is convinced that we need to put pressure on Russia to invest not in war, not in escalation, but in ending the war that it started.

  • On January 29, 2026, Trump announced that he personally asked Putin not to shell the Ukrainian energy sector for a week due to the increasing frost.
  • Zelenskyy thanked the US president and emphasized that Ukraine calculates to fulfill these agreements.
  • On the evening of February 2, Trump once again boasted that Putin allegedly agreed to his request stop attacking Ukraine's energy sector.
  • On the night of February 3, Russia carried out another massive blow in Ukraine, Kyiv was under attack, among other things.
  • After that, Senator Graham called for increased pressure on Russia and give Ukraine Tomahawk.
