President of the United States Donald Trump once again boasted that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly agreed to his request to stop attacking Ukraine's energy sector. He said this said during a conversation with journalists in the Oval Office on February 2, after which Russia launched a new massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine, in particular for energy facilities.

"I called President Putin and he agreed. He said that it was as cold for them as it is for us. Maybe even colder. And Ukraine is a very cold country. It is much colder than we are. Maybe like Canada, or even colder. I asked him if he would not fire any missiles at Kyiv or any other cities for one week, and he agreed" – Trump said.

The US President noted that there may soon be "good news" regarding the process of ending Russia's war against Ukraine.

"We've settled eight wars, and I think for the first time we're doing well with Ukraine and Russia. Maybe we'll have some good news" – the White House chief said.

  • Conversation Trump's meeting with Putin, during which the US president asked the Russian dictator to temporarily stop shelling Kyiv, took place on January 29.
  • Later, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed reported that the Russian dictator had allegedly agreed to an "energy truce" until February 1.
  • On the night of February 3 and in the morning, Russia organized a new massive attack by launching drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles at Ukraine. There have been hits in many areas.
