Ukraine’s leader arrived in Poland

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine arrived in Poland on Wednesday morning, in a rare visit abroad during Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The Ukrainian leader’s spokesman, Serhii Nykyforov, confirmed on Facebook that Mr Zelenskyy, as well as first lady, Olena Zelenska, had begun an official visit to Poland.

According to Mr Nykyforov, the programme of Zelenskyy's visit includes talks with Polish president Andrzej Duda and prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and the signing of bilateral documents.

Ukraine’s leader will reportedly meet with representatives of Polish business as part of the Ukrainian-Polish business forum, the speakers of both houses of the Polish parliament, volunteers and rescuers, and the mayors of cities bordering Ukraine.

"In the evening, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the Poles and Ukrainians living in Poland with a big speech," Mr Nikiforov announced.

According to local radio station RMF FM, at noon Kyiv time the Polish president will officially meet Zelenskyy at the Presidential Palace, and a marathon of political talks will begin between the heads of state, delegations, and ministers within the framework of intergovernmental consultations.

The announced topics of the talks include military assistance to Ukraine, strategy discussions, as well as post-war reconstruction and Ukraine's path to the European Union and NATO.

Poland is known as one of Ukraine’s strongest allies since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Warsaw has given Ukraine hundreds of thousands of dollars in weaponry and hosted nearly 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees.
