Sweden and Denmark will jointly purchase and supply Ukraine with air defense systems worth $290 million to help repel Russian attacks. This was reported by the agency Reuters about the defense ministers of the two states.

Sweden will allocate SEK 2.1 billion (equivalent to $235 million) for the purchase of Tridon air defense systems developed by BAE Systems Bofors. At the same time, Denmark will contribute about 500 million kronor (equivalent to $56 million), Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonsson said at a briefing with his Danish counterpart, Troels Lund Poulsen.

"This means that Ukraine can create an air defense battalion if it'd like to," Jonson said.

He added that this would not only provide Ukraine with additional materials on the battlefield but also strengthen production capacity in Sweden.

Sweden and Denmark have been among the staunchest supporters of Ukraine for many years, providing military and humanitarian aid since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion, the journalists noted.
