Italian F-35 fighter jets took off from Estonia for the first time in response to Russian aircraft, wrote NATO Air Command.
Two F-35 fighter jets flew as part of NATO's air policing mission.
"The Italian Task Force Air – 32nd Wing detachment at Ämari Air Base in Estonia are on Quick Reaction Alert 24/7 demonstrating the Alliance’s commitment to safeguarding NATO airspace," the publication says.
