A rescuer who, along with his colleagues, came under a repeated Russian attack on January 9 in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv, has died in hospital. About reported head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danik.

"After 18 days of fighting for his life, our colleague, a firefighter and rescuer of the 24th State Fire and Rescue Unit, 36-year-old Oleksandr Zibrov, passed away," Danik wrote.

He added that Zibrov, along with other rescuers, came under another Russian attack on January 9 in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.

"The enemy took another life of a brave and courageous firefighter, a loving husband and a caring father. He was seriously injured while protecting people despite the terrible danger," the head of the SES wrote.
