Denmark and the Netherlands will supply 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, to be operational in early 2024, Danish foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and acting defence minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced on Thursday.

Mr Rasmussen said that the shipment of 14 Leopard 2 tanks will complement the 100 Leopard 1 tanks that Denmark had already promised to Ukraine, Nyheder reports.

"These are not Danish tanks. This is cooperation with tanks that are not Danish, but are being purchased in cooperation with the Netherlands," Mr Poulsen was quoted as saying.

The tanks could be delivered in early 2024, Denmark’s defence chef added.

Earlier in April, Denmark pledged to deliver 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine starting by summer, and 19 Caesar howitzers in the coming weeks.
