In Donetsk region, Ukrainian defenders eliminated a Russian mercenary from the African country of Kenya, who had worked in the Middle Eastern state of Qatar before being recruited by the occupiers, reported The Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).

"At one of the positions of the Russian occupation forces, military intelligence officers found the body of Clinton Nyapar Mogesa, a citizen of the Republic of Kenya, born in 1997. The Kenyan lived and worked in Qatar, and later signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces and was sent to one of the assault units of the occupation forces," the statement reads.

According to the HUR, after a short training, the mercenary was killed in a "meat assault" in Donetsk region – the Russians did not evacuate his body, and the Kenyan's family was not provided with any payments or explanations.

The military also found the passports of two other Kenyan citizens in Mogesa's possession, who are probably also mercenaries recruited by Moscow for the assaults.

"The HUR warns foreign citizens against traveling to Russia and doing any work on its territory, especially illegal work. A trip to Russia is a real chance to find yourself in an assault company without training and a chance to survive," the intelligence service added.

In November 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya stated that more than 200 citizens of the country are fighting on the side of Russia against Ukraine.
