Latvia allocates a new aid package for Ukraine worth EUR 70 million and delivers the first Patriа armored personnel carriers

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Eвіка Сілінія thanked for the new €70 million defense package for Ukraine approved by the Latvian government on July 1. He informed on his Telegram channel.

"I am grateful to the people and government of Latvia for their significant assistance and the new defense package. This is a good reinforcement of our army. Thank you for your leadership and willingness to allocate even more than 0.25% of GDP to support Ukraine," he said .

According to the Prime Minister, Latvia has already begun delivering the defense aid package promised during the last meeting of the leaders. It includes 42 Patriа armored vehicles.

The meeting discussed defense support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its financing through European instruments, in particular within the framework of SAFE. They also discussed drones and how new defense support packages from NATO member states will be delivered in practice.

They also discussed Ukraine's accession to the European Union and the opening of negotiating clusters.

"Justice must be ensured in this process," the President emphasized .
