On the morning of November 20, two passenger trains collided in the south of the Czech Republic, injuring more than 40 people. Police are already investigating the incident, reports Idnes.cz.

A head-on collision between an express train and a passenger train occurred on the Zlivi – Divcice line in the area of Ceske Budejovice at about 06:19 (07:19 Kyiv time). The express train was heading from Ceske Budejovice, and the passenger train was traveling in the opposite direction.

As a result of the collision, five people were hospitalized with severe injuries, and 40 others suffered minor injuries. Train traffic on the Ceske Budejovice-Pilsen line was suspended.

According to preliminary data from law enforcement, the express ran a red light. The police have already started investigation on suspicion of creating a public threat.

Rescuers reportedthe company said that the 20 passengers who were not injured were taken by an evacuation bus to the station in Cesky Budejovice. They will also be examined by a doctor.
