Trump cancels meeting with Putin to be held in Budapest
US President says he will meet with Russian dictator "in the future"

U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to cancel a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin scheduled for Budapest. The American president announced his decision while talking to journalists together with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Trump said he will travel to Asia, where he is scheduled to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
At the same time, he added that he had canceled a planned meeting with Putin. US President says "it was the right thing to do".
"I did not feel that we could achieve the desired result, so I canceled it. But we will hold it in the future," he added.
- On the evening of October 16, Trump had a telephone conversation with Putin. They discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and agreed that would meet within two weeks in Budapest.
- On October 21, Reuters wrote that Moscow's refusal to call for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine has likely put the summit in Budapest at risk.
