Navalny's associate Volkov may stay in Lithuania despite scandalous statements about Ukraine

Russian "oppositionist" Leonid Volkov was allowed to stay in Lithuania after his scandalous statements about Ukrainian officials and the military. This was reported by the Delfi about the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Vladislav Kondratovich.
The minister stated that no circumstances were found that could indicate that Volkov supports the Kremlin regime and its aggression against Ukraine. Therefore, he was allowed to stay in Lithuania.
Kondratovych added that the State Security Department conducted an extensive investigation into the Russian, assessing not only his statements that caused a stir, but also Ukraine's position.
"So, a representative of the Russian opposition who has a temporary residence permit can live in Lithuania," the minister said.
According to him, the Department of Migration can revoke a residence permit if the presence of a foreigner in Lithuania poses a threat to state security and public order.
This information was confirmed by the Department of Migration, which stated that Volkov's residence permit would not be revoked.
Director of the Migration Department Indre Gaspere said that the legal status of the Russian in Lithuania remains unchanged, as the investigation did not reveal that he poses a threat to state security.
- January 6, 2026 Department of Migration of Lithuania reported that he might consider revoking Volkov's residence permit in the country. The outrage was caused by the published correspondence with the Russian, in which he rejoices in the murder of RDC commander Kapustin, which turned out to be staged by the GUR, and criticizes Ukrainian officials.
- The Lithuanian Prime Minister believes statements of the Russian "oppositionist" against Ukrainian officials are unacceptable. In her opinion, Volkov should not stay in Lithuania.
