After the night's massive attack, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called on US President Donald Trump to begin the process of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles. This is stated in his post on the social network X.

He stated that the pressure that the United States is putting on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to sit down at the peace talks table and stop the massive attacks on Ukraine is not working.

"President Trump's idea of going after Putin's oil customers who support his war machine should be vigorously supported by the United States and Europe. President Trump has undermined Putin's economy by going after oil companies and refineries," Graham emphasized.

The senator believes that the duties on India are a good example of how things can change. According to him, India is now buying significantly less Russian oil, and if other major buyers followed suit, it would help stop the bloodshed.

"Finally, following this massive attack last night, I urge President Trump to begin the process of providing Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, which will be a game-changer militarily," Graham added.

In his opinion, in the coming weeks, the United States should put more pressure on Putin.

"Any negotiations that are perceived as overly encouraging aggression will trigger catastrophes around the world. The opposite is also true. If the negotiations lead to a free, strong, and independent Ukraine that has made concessions, the world will be much more stable. Time is of the essence," the Republican summarized.

  • On December 21, 2025, Graham stated that in case of Russia's refusal to accept a peace agreement, the United States should "change the rules of the game" and provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles to strike at the production sites of drones and missiles in Russia.
  • In November, Trump said that he was not currently considering a deal that would allowed Ukraine to receive long-range Tomahawk missiles for use against Russia. He did not rule out that he might change his mind.
