German Foreign Minister: China should use its influence on Russia to stop the war
China should use its influence on Russia to persuade dictator Vladimir Putin to stop his aggressive war against Ukraine. German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadefuhl called for this at a press conference with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Berlin.
"We are counting on credible and concrete efforts on the part of China and its considerable influence on Russia to put an end to this conflict," he said .
Wadeful urged his Chinese counterpart to use the available opportunities to get Russia to the negotiating table. He also emphasized that it is important for China to prevent Russia from receiving important military goods that allow it to continue its full-scale war against Ukraine.
"This will further undermine our stability and security here in Europe, in Asia and around the world. It is imperative that a permanent member of the UN Security Council, such as China, assume global responsibility for peace and security," the German diplomat emphasized .
- In May, the head of foreign intelligence said that China was supplying machine tools, special chemicals, gunpowder, and components to 20 Russian military plants. Later, the NATO secretary general also announced military assistance to Russia, but the Chinese Foreign Ministry called these words slander.
- The Chinese Foreign Ministry denied supplying weapons to Russia and accused NATO of slander.
- Foreign intelligence also reported that Russia, together with China, plans to implement two projects in occupied Crimea with a total cost of $10 billion. These are a port and a railroad.
