Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk said that peace in Ukraine could be achieved within a few weeks. He expressed this opinion after talks on December 30 with European leaders, Canada and NATO, the Reuters.

Tusk made this statement despite the fact that the Kremlin reported that it had strengthened its negotiating position after accusations of an alleged attack on the Russian dictator's residence, Vladimir Putin. Kyiv called the accusation groundless and aimed at prolonging the war.

"Peace is on the horizon, there is no doubt that there have been events that give reason to hope that this war can end, and fairly quickly, but it is still a hope, far from 100% certain," Tusk said at a government meeting.

The Polish Prime Minister emphasized that when he says that peace is "already on the horizon, I mean the coming weeks, not the coming months or years."

"By January, we will all have to come together... to make a decision about the future of Ukraine, about the future of this part of the world," he emphasized.

Tusk added that the security guarantees that Washington will provide to Kyiv give reason to hope for a quick end to the conflict, but Ukraine will have to compromise on territorial issues.
