Poland has joined the PURL initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. This was announced before a meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council by the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky, cited Polskie Radio.

"From the budget already approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I intend to allocate $100 million to Ukraine by the end of the year for military assistance under the PURL program, which we use to purchase American weapons," Sikorsky said.

The PURL is a program to purchase U.S. weapons and ammunition for Ukraine in accordance with priorities set by Kyiv.

A month ago, during a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, more than half of the allies expressed interest in participating. Poland said at the time that it would not participate, but did not rule out the possibility of reconsidering its decision in the future.

  • On October 23, Zelenskyy announced that Finland and Spain has joined to the PURL initiative, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
  • On November 18, the Spanish Prime Minister said that his country will allocate 100 million euros.
