Спикер Палаты представителей Конгресса США Майк Джонсон в эфире американского телеканала C-SPAN заявил, что считает помощь Украине "критически важной".

"То, что мы делаем сейчас, я считаю правильным. Сейчас критическое время, и я считаю, что предоставление Украине летальной помощи является критически важным", – сказал он.

Джонсон добавил, что "нужно поступать правильно" и сейчас "не время играть с этим в политику".

17 апреля республиканец и критик помощи Украине Томас Масси призвал Джонсона разрешить Республиканской партии избрать нового спикера, а затем уйти в отставку. Ранее с таким предложением выступила Марджори Тейлор Грин – поклонница 45-го президента США Дональда Трампа.

В свою очередь, демократы уже в течение месяца обещают спасти спикера от увольнения, если тот примет помощь Украине.
