Court dismisses appeal against multi-million bail for faction head Motherland Yulia Tymoshenko, suspected of offering bribes to MPs, but lifted some of her preventive measures. This decision was made by the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), reports Public.

The HACC rejected Tymoshenko's appeal against more than UAH 33 million in bail, but allowed her to communicate with MPs and move freely around Ukraine.

The candidate's lawyer called the bail against her unreasonable and asked to explain where the amount came from.

At the same time, the prosecutor requested that the bail be increased to UAH 50 million and assigned an electronic bracelet to the MP.

Earlier, on January 16, the HACC chose Tymoshenko a preventive measure – UAH 33,280,000 in bail. Among other things, she was then banned from traveling outside the Kyiv region and refrained from communicating with a number of MPs. Anti-Corruption Action Center, an NGO, published a list of 65 eligible MPs.

On January 23, the press service of the HACC confirmed that the full amount of bail had been paid for Tymoshenko. The MP stated that her team had helped to do this. According to Radio Liberty's Schemes project, among those who contributed funds was Kostyantyn Bondarev, a member of parliament from the Batkivshchyna party, who is considered one of the party's main sponsors.

Before the bail was set, Tymoshenko claimed that she would be unable to pay it due to her accounts being frozen.

  • On January 14, NABU and SAPO announced Tymoshenko suspicion of offering bribes to MPs from other factions for voting. Law enforcement officers published "wiretapping", allegedly with a politician. She calls it "political order" against her.
  • On the eve of serving the suspicion, the LIGA.net's interlocutor one of the "servants", commenting on the fact that the Rada failed to approve new ministerial appointments at the first time, argued that through its votes Batkivshchyna wanted to get certain personnel appointments.
  • On January 20, president Zelenskyy said he saw no connection between the Tymoshenko investigation and the possible elections in Ukraine.
  • On January 21, HACC arrested part of Tymoshenko's property.
