British fighter jets are ready to shoot down Russian drones that violate the airspace of Poland or another NATO country. This was announced by British Defense Minister John Healey, the newspaper The Guardian.

He said that NATO is "responding cohesively and decisively" to threats and that Typhoon fighter jets will be ready to attack Russian drones flying over NATO countries if necessary.

"If you have drones that endanger Polish lives, NATO will take action to destroy them," Gili said, adding that the Typhoons were part of a broader mission "to protect NATO airspace".

Last week, Romania became the second NATO ally in Eastern Europe to detect a Russian drone crossing its airspace. The British Defense Minister emphasized that fighter jets would be sent to another NATO country if necessary.

"They are deployed as part of NATO's Eastern Air Policing," Healy said, emphasizing that this is part of London's contribution to the Alliance.

He also added that there is currently no confirmation of Russia's intentions to fly drones into Poland, but noted that "it's still reckless, it's still dangerous" and according to the scenario of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin .

  • On September 13, Poland launched NATO's Operation Eastern Sentinel in response to a Russian drone attack on the country three days earlier. As part of the operation, allies promised to provide military assistance to Warsaw.
  • The next day, Navrotsky agreed to deploy NATO allies troops to his country as part of the new operation.
  • On September 15, Britain sent its fighter jets to Poland after an airspace violation incident.
