Foreign Intelligence: RF is conducting an information operation to disrupt the agreements between Ukraine and the United States

Foreign Intelligence Service warned that Russia is conducting an information operation to disrupt the agreements reached between the president and Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the American leader Donald Trump.
According to the SZR, as part of the operation, the Kremlin accuses Ukraine of attempting to attack the residence of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin using 91 UAVs.
The operation began with a statement by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and was replicated by propagandists.
After that, within two hours, the narratives were picked up and developed by other officials of the aggressor state: Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov, leaders of Russian parties, and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Alexei Zhuravlev.
The intelligence agency noted that such efficiency and coordination indicate that the operation was carried out on Putin's instructions and in accordance with the approved "temniks."
The SZR emphasized that there are a number of facts that indicate that the information about the attack on the residence is fake. The intelligence service cited several of them:
→ during December 29, residents of Novgorod region did not report the UAV attack and its consequences. Now, the Kremlin is trying to remedy the situation by spreading fake messages on Russian social media on behalf of alleged residents of the city of Valdai;
→ the lack of actual evidence (wreckage, photos, videos) of the downed drones, which the Kremlin has been unable to present for almost a day after the start of the information operation. But the necessary "evidence" may be delivered in the near future;
→ The Russian Ministry of Defense twice corrected the published reports to match the Kremlin's narrative (first, they reported 18 spotted drones, then the number increased to 23).
The intelligence service added that this is not the first time that Moscow has manipulated the topic of an attack against Russian targets without evidence and on purpose. In May 2023, it reported a drone attack on the Kremlin. In May 2025, it pointed out that during a visit to the Kursk region, Putin's helicopter allegedly hit the "epicenter of a drone attack." Later, sources in the Russian government confirmed that this was a staged event.
The Foreign Intelligence Service pointed out that the UAV fake is Russia's nervous reaction to the progress made in the US negotiations. They are confident that Russia will use the "Valdai attack" to justify strengthening its negotiating position, future attacks on Ukraine during the New Year holidays, and discrediting the Ukrainian leadership.
- On December 29, Lavrov said that Ukrainian drones allegedly tried to attack Putin's residence in Novgorod Oblast. Zelenskyy called his statement and explained why Russia spread this fake.
- On the same day, Trump said that Putin told him about the alleged attack on his residence. The US President said that "this is not good".
