Türkiye is doing a lot to bring the Armed Forces of Ukraine up to NATO standards, but not publicly so as not to annoy Russia, revealed Yevgeniya Gaber, a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council in Türkiye, in a comment to LIGA.net.

According to her, Türkiye will not openly support Ukraine. as Poland does, for example.

"Türkiye's key position is balancing between Ukraine and Russia. Despite the fact that Türkiye will obviously not block Ukraine's membership in NATO. And Türkiye is doing a lot to bring the Ukrainian army up to NATO standards and everything related to that," said Gaber.

She noted that Ankara will never publicly say that Russia must be restrained and Ukraine must be accepted into NATO.

"But in case of voting on some projects, for some decisions, internal, multilateral processes, procedures, we will have the support of Türkiye. This support will be quiet, non-public, and practical, so as not to annoy Russia, but at the same time support Ukraine," the analyst concluded.
In January, Erdogan said that his relations with Putin based on "honesty and mutual respect".
Also, in January, the Turkish company Baykar allegedly handed over two more attack drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for free.
"Türkiye is a friend of Ukraine," Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has previously stated.
