Canada cancels contract to supply Ukraine with repaired armored vehicles

Canada has canceled a plan to transfer repaired armored vehicles to Ukraine. This was reported by the Minister of National Defense David McGuinty to the House of Commons Committee, reports CBC.
According to him, the contract for the supply of refurbished light armored vehicles to Kyiv has been officially canceled. It is about 25 decommissioned Armatec Survivability armored personnel carriers, which the Ministry of National Defense transferred to Dorchester (a suburb of London) for restoration almost two years ago .
The project was to be implemented by the Canadian Ministry of Defense, as the country had difficulties with weapons and equipment for Ukraine. The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) acted as an intermediary in defense contracts and was to negotiate this contract, worth about $250 million.
The plan to transfer armored personnel carriers to Ukraine was included in the federal agency's quarterly report by the summer of 2025, but was later "mysteriously canceled".
"We have now decided to terminate the contract with this company. I cannot discuss the matter further. We'll see how the relationship with the department and the contractor develops," McGinty said, without giving details .
CCC also refused to answer questions about the deal, citing "trade secret obligations".
- on October 17, Ukraine acknowledged that there were delays in military assistance under the PURL program. It is about the supply of air defense systems.
- On October 24, a new meeting of the "coalition of the willing", will be held in London, with President Zelenskyy also participating.
