President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not believe the Russians, led by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, but believes that he did assure US President Donald Trump that he allegedly wanted Ukraine to "succeed." He said this in an interview with Fox News .

The journalist asked Zelenskiy about the press conference with Trump after the meeting in Florida on December 28, when the US President told about his conversation with Putin.

"Russia will help. Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. And although it sounds a little bit strange... President Putin has been very generous in terms of Ukraine's success, including supplying electricity and other things at very low prices," Trump said at the time.

The host emphasized Zelensky's reaction, who raised his eyebrows and smiled a little at these words: "Do you disagree with that?".

"I don't trust the Russians. I don't believe Putin, he doesn't want Ukraine to succeed. He may say this-I believe he may say similar words to President Trump. But it's not true. He does not want more sanctions pressure from Trump, so he can say: "I want Ukraine to succeed and I am ready to give them cheap electricity," Zelensky emphasized .

He noted that Ukraine does not need "cheap" electricity from Russia, because in fact a very high price has been paid – people's lives.

"This is not about electricity. We don't need anything from them," the president said.

He is convinced that Putin's message was exclusively for Trump to find a way to communicate with him.

  • Trump spoke with Putin twice in recent days – before meeting with Zelenskyy in Florida and after .
  • The US president assured Zelenskyy that he had talked to Putin about all 20 points of the peace plan.
